What is gas and how do you fill up?

     Liquid fuel that you insert into a hole in your car.

Where can you get gas?

     Only at gas stations, you won't be able to fill up at home or at destinations.

What is that smell when you fill up?

     Fumes from the gasoline.

Is that smell safe?

     No, in laboratory animals they developed cancer with long term exposure.

What happens if the gas catches on fire?

     The car's gas tank will likely explode.

What is an engine and what maintenance does it need?

     It generates power burning gas to turn the wheels. Regular maintenance is required.

What is that noise when you start it up?

     That is the starter cranking up to try and start up the engine.

     Sometimes it takes a few tries.

What is that constant noise coming from the hood?

     That is the engine running, it makes noises due to all the constantly moving parts.

What is that noise when you hit the gas pedal?

     That is the engine revving up to increase the power to the wheels.

     There will be a delay.

What is oil and when and how do you change it?

     This keeps the engine lubricated. It should be replaced every 3,000 - 6,000 miles.

What is a belt and what happens if that breaks?

     A belt connects accessories to your engine. Your car will not run if it breaks.

What is a transmission and what maintenance does it need?

     This helps transfer power to the wheels and adjust speeds.

     It needs regular maintenance.

What is that smoke coming from the back of the car?

     That is exhaust and it is a byproduct of burning gas in your car.

Is that smoke safe?

     No, if you are in an enclosed space with it you will die.

     Light exposure can still cause problems.

Can you leave your car on in the garage?

     No, the risk of exposure to exhaust could kill you or cause other            ailments.

Why is it so slow expecially when accelerating?

     No gas car has instant torque, you must wait for the engine to rev up.

Why do you need to use the brake pedal so often?

     There is no regenerative braking so the only way to slow down the car is with the brake pedal.
